Abstract:

To avoid the deposition of carbon quality (carbon) without supplying a modified substance such as water vapor of extremly excessive amount to a hydrocarbon when a synthetic gas composed of carbon oxide and hydrogen is prepared by reacting a hydrocarbon such as methane with the modified substance such as water vapor.

A cobalt catalyst for reforming composed of a composite oxide having a composition represented by the formula of aCo.bMg.cCa.dO in which Co is in a highly dispersed state is used. (In the formula, (a), (b), (c) and (d) represent the molecular fraction and 0.005≤(a)≤0.20, 0.80≤((b+c))≤0.995, 0<(b)≤0.995, 0≤(c)≤0.995. (d) is a number required by an element for keeping its electric charge balance between oxygen.
