A caisson structure 1 for a cofferdam is split vertically into a plurality of segments 2, 3 whose buoyancies are adjustable, and their one-side ends are coupled together by hinge as capable of being opened and closed, and a buffer seal material 13 and supporting leg are installed in continuity to the bottom surface of a cutter hole of each caisson segment 2, 3, and a plurality of guide spacers 11 are installed on the inside of each segment 2, 3. The caisson segments 2, 3 are opened and closed, and fitted on a structure concerned A, and this is sunk. The seal material 13 is put in resilient contact with a pedestal B and seated, and a cut-off grout 18 is put fully along the cutter hole of caisson 1, and thereby the cutter blade part is cut off in cooperation of the seal material and grout 18.
