An overhead traveling crane with a hoist is provided with a travel motor 18b, a traverse motor 19b, a hoist motor 14a, tongs 16 for suspending a coil 6 suspended by a wire 15, and an opening/closing motor 22a for opening/closing the tongs 16. The tongs 16 are so constituted that the measurement W of the coil placement part of an arm 21b is set larger than the maximum width D of the coil 6 to suspend two coils 6 at the same time, and that the width Lf of a hook core is set larger than the width Lt of the load core of the coil 6 suspended by the arm 21b. In either gap, steady pieces 17b with sufficient rigidity and fine slidability are intervened in upper and lower sections at a prescribed interval, thereby constituting a post 17.
