Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil spring preventing the abrasion and entanglement at a winding start end or a winding finish end and suppressing the occurrence of an offset load and to provide its manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: A fine band-like spring plate wire is spirally wound in the width direction, the wound wire is machined into a wave shape in the thickness direction, and a previously wound ridge section 12 and a next wound valley section 13 are superimposed. The winding start end 15 and the winding finish end 16 are curved or kept parallel with the next wound valley section 13, and they are processed so as not to cause a slide contact with fitting faces 17. When the number of waves in one winding is n=(an integer +0.5), the one-wave pitch angle α (rad) of (n-1.5) waves is expanded than the one-wave pitch angle θ(rad) of a uniform interval at least for the winding at both ends of the spring, and the one-wave pitch angle β (rad) of 1.5 waves is shrunk than the one-wave pitch angle θ of the uniform interval.
