PURPOSE: To prevent seizure flaw on a metallic plate in the stage of coiling the metallic plate having a high tendency to seizure by coating a seizure resistant material by melt spraying on the surface of a pinch roll disposed on the down stream side of a down coiler which coils the hot rolled meatllic plate.

CONSTITUTION: Mo, Wc or ceramic is melt sprayed as a seizure resistant material on the surface of a pinch roll only in the case of coiling a metallic plate having a high tendency to seizure such as titanium, titanium alloy or stainless steel with a hard roll which is subjected to hard facing with a Cr-Mo-Ni alloy. The reason for using the melt spraying method lies in that the operation is easily accomplished with the roll which is kept installed and that the operation can be executed at a low cost. The melt spraying film is formed to ≥10μ thickness and at the width larger by about 100mm each at both ends from the width of the material to be coiled.
