To provide a coin discrimination apparatus which employs escrow system and can ensure money such as a balance stored before turning off of a power supply when powered up again.

In the coin discrimination apparatus 1, a specific resistor R2 can be packaged beforehand, whether the coin discrimination apparatus 1 is based on specifications for leading escrow coins into a change tube when powered up or based on specifications for leading escrow coins into a safe passage is determined in accordance with the presence of the resistor R2 and the leading in/out of escrow coins is controlled on the basis of the determination. Thereby a function corresponding to the specifications can be exhibited for the processing of escrow coins when powered up in accordance with the presence or nonpresence of the resistor R2. As compared with a case for individually manufacturing an apparatus corresponding to specifications as the coin discrimination apparatus, the versatility of the coin discrimination apparatus can be improved.
