PURPOSE: To restrain the chattering that is generated on a stainless steel strip by using the rolls with the mean surface roughness not larger than a specified μm that is shown by the formula for at least one of 2nd upper and lower intermediate driving rolls and 1st upper and lower intermediate rolls which are brought into contact with the 2nd upper and lower intermediate driving rolls.
CONSTITUTION: When the stainless steel strip is cold rolled with a 20 stages Sendzimir mill, the rolls with the mean surface roughness of ≤0.7μm that is shown by the formula are used for at least one of the 2nd upper intermediate driving rolls and 2nd lower intermediate driving rolls and the 1st upper intermediate rolls and 1st lower intermediate rolls which are respectively brought into contact with the aforementioned 2nd upper intermediate driving rolls and 2nd lower intermediate driving rolls. In the formula, Ra: mean surface roughness, Ra1: surface roughness Ra of 1st intermediate rolls, Ra2: surface roughness Ra of 2nd intermediate driving rolls.
