To reduce a size when a collapsible skis pole or trekking pole is collapsed as much as possible, and to strongly secure respective shafts in both directions when a pole assembly is in an extended state.
A releasable lock assembly 30 for use with a collapsible pole assembly having a second shaft section 18 slidably secured to a third shaft section 22 includes a locking mechanism configured to selectively lock the second and third shaft sections in an extended position. The releasable lock assembly further includes a stop assembly 48 having an elongated member having second and third ends, wherein the first end is secured to one of the second and third shaft sections and the second end is secured to the other of the second and third shaft sections. The stop assembly further comprises a stop assembly biasing member 58 configured to move the second and third shaft sections into a collapsed position.
