Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a collet holding mechanism which can prevent chips, cutting oil and so on from entering a collet and the interior of the main body so as to avoid the deterioration of the collet and the main body.
CONSTITUTION: An expanding slot 20 is formed on a collet 2 fitted to a chuck 1, and the expanding slot 20 is closed by screwing in a fixing nut 4 to fix a jig 6. A resin cover 5 is positioned between the end portion of the collet 2 and the fixing nut 4 to cover the end portion of the expanding slot 20, whereby entering of chips is prevented. It is also possible to fit an expansible member directly in the expanding slot 20.
