PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ride comfort of occupants, to say nothing of being able to avoid collision between cars, even for a plurality of elevators which are provided in the same hoistway and which can travel vertically and horizontally.SOLUTION: In a collision avoidance method of elevator cars, in order to solve the problem, based on distance information detected by a distance detector provided in an elevator car, a distance between an elevator car which a person is going to ride (own car) and an elevator car before the own car (other car) is acquired by a distance information calculation part of a control panel provided at the car, a distance with the other car one cycle before which is stored in a storage part of the control panel and a distance between the other car and the own car acquired by the distance information calculation part is compared by a comparison part, and based on the comparison result, a speed command is generated by acquiring a speed difference between the own car and the other car in a control calculation part, and the speed command is outputted to a command output part of the control panel according to the behavior of the other car. Thus, by controlling power or a power source of the cars, collision of cars is avoided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
