Title:
COLLISIONAL STATUS DISCRIMINATION DEVICE AND OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION DEVICE USING IT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3700834
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collisional status discrimination device to discriminate whether it is a symmetrical collision or an asymmetrical collision at the initial stage of a vehicle collision.
SOLUTION: This collisional status discrimination device includes a first deceleration detection means 22 to detect a vehicle deceleration G in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle in a specified cycle, a first peak detection means 34 to detect a first peak of the vehicle deceleration G, second deceleration detection means 24, 26 to detect and right left decelerations LG, RG in specified cycles as well as arranged on and the right side the left side of the vehicle, an average deceleration computing means 32 to compute a and right left average vehicle deceleration LV (t), RV (t) of each of the and right left decelerations and a symmetrical and asymmetrical discrimination means 36 to discrimination whether a collisional status is symmetrical or asymmetrical in accordance with the and right left average vehicle decelerations LV (t), RV (t) when the first peak of the vehicle deceleration G is detected by the first peak detection means 34.
