PURPOSE: To improve the mechanical strength of an inner shield without deteriorating the magnetic shield effect by mounting a split type inner shield on a mask frame and then fixing butt opening end with an adhesive.

CONSTITUTION: A split type inner shield 1 is mounted on a mask frame 2 in U shape with locking springs 3. Butt opening ends of 2 pieces of the inner shield 1 are fixed with sheet-like adhesive 5 made of frit glass or the like, to assemble a color cathode ray tube. By this constitution, mechanical strength of the inner shield 1 can be improved and resonance due to the shade of the inner shield and sound can be prevented without deferiorating the magnetic shield effect at a low cost.
