PURPOSE: To emphasize the outline of a color signal without trouble by providing a second pulse generating circuit which inhibits the output of a first color signal edge part detection signal at the time of output of a second color signal edge part detection signal.

CONSTITUTION: The output signal from a color signal outline part detecting circuit 14 is inputted to an AND circuit 38. The circuit 38 inhibits the output to output a signal at the time of input of the signal from a second pulse generating circuit 36. That is, color signal contour emphasis dependent upon the edge detecting signal detected from the color signal is inhibited in the edge part of a luminance signal. The color signal contour emphasis is performed by the edge detection signal detected from the luminance signal. Thus, color contour correction with match between phases of the liminance signal and the color signal is possible.
