To provide a color filter efficiently applying coloring material to a specified area by an ink jet method, including a light shielding area having sufficient light shielding property and a transmission area having no color mixture, free from the defect of a pixel or the unevenness of a color tone and having high contrast, and also to provide its manufacture method, and an electrooptical device and electronic equipment.
In the color filter 100, the light shielding area 20 and the transmission area 30 are arranged in a specified matrix pattern on a transparent base plate 10. The area 20 has a light shielding layer 22 and a bank layer 24 provided on the layer 22. The area 30 is constituted of the transmission part 32a of a coloring layer 32 divided by the area 20. Then, the periphery of the base of the layer 24 is positioned more inside than the periphery of the layer 22, and the layer 24 has the exposed surface 22a of an upper surface. The layer 32 is formed in a state where its periphery part is superposed on the exposed surface 22a of the layer 22 and constitutes a non-transmission part 32b.
