To provide a color filter by which display luminosity at the time when reflection display is performed and when transmission display is performed in a semitransmission type color liquid crystal display device is enhanced and to provide a semitransmission type liquid crystal display device and an electronic instrument.

The color filter is used for color display of a liquid crystal screen having a reflection light passing part through which reflected light of external light passes and a transmission light passing part through which light from a light emitting means provided in the inside of an instrument passes. The reflection light passing part and/or the transmission light passing part are colored by using luminescent pigment or luminescent dye exciting and converting light in a complementary color wavelength area into light in a prescribed wavelength area.
