To obviate the partial deterioration of displayed images caused by the optical interference between the lead wirings of electrodes for electrodeposition and the lead wirings of electrodes for driving a liquid crystal display device.

This substrate is constituted by providing the inside surface of the one transparent substrate of the liquid crystal display device with the electrodes 22 for electrodeposition for forming color patterns by electrodeposition and forming reference marks 26 indicating the boundaries of color pattern forming parts on the electrodes for electrodeposition. In such a case, the reference patterns are formed at the other electrodes for electrodeposition exclusive of the electrodes for electrodeposition nearly parallel with the lead wirings wired in the sectorial patterns of the electrodes for driving the liquid crystal display device and facing the parts where the spacings of the lead wires are widened.
