To obtain a color hair cosmetic which is excellent in the tinctrial power, the touch on use, the stability and the water resistance, possesses reduced secondary adhesion and can be completely washed away by shampoo washing and the like.

This color hair cosmetic comprises (1) an amphoteric polymeric resin of the formula, (2) an acid dye and (3) a pigment. The components (1), (2) and (3) are contained in compound amounts of 1-10 wt.% in the whole weight of the hair cosmetic, less than 0.01-0.1 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the component (1) and less than 0.01-1 pts.wt. based on the total 1 pt.wt of the components (1) and (2), respectively. In the formula, R1 and R6 are each hydrogen atom or methyl group, R3 and R4 are each an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms and R2 and R5 are each an alkylene group having 1-4 carbon atoms. R7 stands for an alkyl group having 1-24 carbon atoms and its 15-100 wt.% are composed of stearyl groups. Further, the cationization density of the amphoteric polymeric resin is 0.3-0.8 and the average molecular weight is 80.000-220.000.
