To enable a host computer or a controller to adjust a hue in a color image forming apparatus.

The color image forming apparatus includes the controller which is connected to the host computer with a printer driver and converts data generated from printing data by the host computer to image data, a printer engine which is connected to the controller and includes both an image processing means which converts from the image data generated by the controller to an image signal for driving a laser and an image forming means which forms an image to a recording medium, a means which transfers the image data from the controller to the printer engine, and a means which receives the image data transferred from the controller at the printer engine. The image processing means carries out image processing by using a lookup table transferred from the host computer via the controller or a lookup table transferred from the controller.
