PURPOSE: To make a display on the same color LCD panel with screen resolution which is neither an integral multiple nor integral submultiple by composing two-dimensional picture element groups of pixels which are the least common multiple of at least different display resolution.

CONSTITUTION: Horizontal electrodes 21i (i=0 - 1535) are formed on the surface of one transparent substrate in stripes and in parallel to one another and the number of the electrodes is 1536 which is the least common multiple of 768 and 512; and 768 vertical electrodes 22j (j=0 - 767) are provided on the surface of the other transparent substrate in stripes and in parallel to one another. Points at intersections of the horizontal and vertical electrodes (21i,22j) are picture elements and R, G, and B filters for a color display are arrayed for the picture element groups as shown in a figure. Namely, the filters are arranged repeatedly and vertically in this order and the filters of the same colors are arranged horizontally. Consequently, a display with the screen resolution which is neither an integral multiple nor integral submultiple is made on the same panel.
