PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for scanning of energy beam to an image sheet to simplify an exposure optical system and enhance a printing speed, by a method wherein an image pattern, formed on an optical valve member in response to each color- resolution signal by an electron beam, is projected on the image sheet by using beams of light of different wavelength ranges.
CONSTITUTION: When color-resolution signals are successively inputted for every color in three primary colors under the condition that a filter member 7b is selected and near ultraviolet light is directed to an image recording layer 52, an electric charge pattern is written and a corresponding degree of birefringence is provided. When a filter 7 is changed over and a beam of light having a wavelength sensitizing each of primary colors in an image sheet G is directed to a projection tube 5, a pattern light to be next represented by the primary color is obtained. The beam of light passing through an analyser 9 cures only microcapsules of a color sensitive to the sheet G. At the completion of forming a latent image of three primary colors, a development sheet J and the sheet G are laid over each other and applied with pressure. A coloring precursor oozes from the sheet G to the sheet J by the amount corresponding to that of the exposure, thus accelerating rapidly the reaction with a developer to develop a color pattern corresponding to an image signal.
