Abstract:
PURPOSE: To protect a color of a dyed keratinous fiber (especially hair) from fading or discoloring due to external factors, especially sunlight and washing. CONSTITUTION: A polydiorganosiloxane, containing at least one unit represented by formula I [R is a 3-26C bivalent aliphatic group which may have ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or a mixed structural unit thereof occasionally interrupted with an ester functional group; R' is a 1-6C monofunctional hydrocarbon group, a 1-4C alkoxy or trmethylsilyloxy; (a) is 0, 1 or 2] and a unit represented by formula II [R" is a 1-18C alkyl, a phenyl (1-6C) alkyl or phenyl; (b) is 1, 2 or 3] as the remaining unit in the molecule, containing a thiol functional group in which at least 50% of R' and R" denotes CH3 and further containing a unit represented by formula III [(n) is an integer of 1-18], e.g. the polydiorganosiloxane represented by formula IV is used as a protecting agent for protecting a color of a dyed keratinous fiber (especially hair) against fading or discoloring due to sunlight and washing, etc.
