PURPOSE: To achieve a higher accuracy of hue discrimination by arranging an emission outlet and an incidence inlet of an optical fiber strand forming end faces at the emission/incidence section uniformly within a common plane area.
CONSTITUTION: An emission outlet 9b and an incidence inlet 10b of an optical fiber strand forming end faces at emission/incidence section 8a are arranged uniformly within a common plane area. With such an arrangement, a color light from a light emitting element 1 emitted evenly through the entire end faces at the emission/incidence section 8a while the emission/incidence section 8a is brought extremely close to an object 4 to be inspected to make the intensity distribution of reflected lights from the object 4 being inspected uniform in the entire end faces at the emission/incidence section 8a. Moreover, almost all reflected lights are allowed to irradiated the end faces at the emission/incidence section 8a. Thus, the quantity of the color light emitted from the emission outlet 10a is enough to obtain an analog signal with a large amplitude from an light receiving section 5 thereby ensuring a high accuracy in the discrimination of hue with a higher S/N ratio.
