To obtain a color tape having a low cost and improved resistance to light discoloration and not causing environmental pollution, which tape is composed of a tape base free from lead chromate and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on either surface of the base, wherein the base has a structure composed of at least the upper and lower layers either of which contains an organic pigment.
This tape is composed of, for example, a tape base 1 and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 2. The base 1 is a laminate of the upper layer 11 freed from lead chromate and colored with an organic pigment and a lower layer 12 colored with an inorganic pigment free from lead chromate. If the layer 11 colored with an organic pigment can attain by itself hiding power necessary for a color tape, the layer 12 may be colorless and transparent and need not contain a pigment. This is advantageous in respect of cost. The upper and lower layers are each composed of at least one layer, and particularly, the upper layer is composed of 1-3 layers, and the lower layer is composed of 1-5 layers. The upper layer has a thickness of 0.02-0.6 mm, and the lower layer has a thickness of about 0.03-0.8 mm.
