To prevent the lowering of the feeding accuracy of a recording paper from developing due to the curling of the recording paper.
A set of conveying rollers 11 consists of a capstan roller 11a, a nip roller 11b, an auxiliary nip roller 11c and a roller shift mechanism 11d. A recording paper is wrapped around the capstan roller 11a over a certain angle θ1 by means of the nip roller 11b and the auxiliary nip roller 11c. During the pulling back of the recording paper 12 by three times through the reciprocating motion by means of the set of conveying rollers 11, yellow images, magenta images and cyan images are recorded with a thermal head 13 onto a recording area in the order of three color surfaces. During every pulling-back and feeding- out of the recording paper 12, the angle of contact θ1 of the recording paper against the capstan roller 11a is made constant by means of the nip roller 11b and the auxiliary nip roller 11c. Even when a curl develops in the recording paper 12 through thermal recording, the recording paper 12 can be accurately pulled back or fed out without being influenced by the curl.
