Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a colorant useful for gravure printing, etc., contg. a specified compd., soluble in water in a salt form and insoluble in an acid form and excellent in anti-environmental contaminant property.
CONSTITUTION: The objective colorant contains a compd. of formula A is an org. chromophore; Y is a polyoxy-alkylene substituent having 1-200 alkylene oxide groups of a 2-18C alkylene oxide; X is O, an NR2 or S (R2 is H or 1-18C alkyl); R1 is an alkylene, alkenylene, phenylene, etc.,; p is 1-6]. Further, the aqueous ink composition is obtained by contg. the colorants and a counter ion of 0.1-50 wt.% selected from alkali (alkaline earth) metal ions, ammonium ions, zinc ammonium complexes and amine salts and by making the counter ion present in stoichiometric proportion or greater with respect to the colorant.
