To provide a colored flat coating material for electrodeposition that has a good dispersibility in water, provide a coating both showing little compositional change with the passage of time, requires only simple bath control to secure consistent coating qualities, and allows low temperature baking, as well as to provide an electrodeposition coating method therewith.
The coating material is an anionic colored flat coating material for electrodeposition comprising (A) an acrylic resin obtained by copolymerizing (a) an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, (b) a hydroxy group-containing α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer, (c) a cross-linkable functional group-containing α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer and (d) an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than the above-described α,β- ethylenically unsaturated monomers, (B) a melamine resin wherein an isobutyl ether group occupies ≥50% of the total alkyl ether groups, and (C) a color pigment. At electrodeposition coating method is provided for using the material.
