Abstract:
To provide colored polybenzazole fiber slight in mechanical strength drop attributable to undergoing long-time exposure to high-temperature and high-humidity ambience and also slight in color change after exposed to light.
The colored polybenzazole fiber contains in the yarn an organic pigment high in heat resistance with a thermal decomposition temperature of 200°C or higher and soluble to mineral acid. It is preferable that the pigment has -N= and/or NH group in its molecular structure, especially being a perinone and/or perylene compound, phthalocyanine compound or quinacridone compound. In the fiber, the stoichiometric ratio of inorganic base to mineral acid each remaining in the fiber is (0.9-1.4):1.
