To provide a comber enabling the change in the rotation rate of a comb cylinder discontinuously driven in synchronism with the movement of a nipper unit over the most of all rotations by driving the comb cylinder by the use of a transmission device equipped with a non-circular driving means.
The driving output of a main motor M1 rotated at an approximately constant rate is transmitted to a planetary gear device 12 through a belt wheel G, a belt wheel H, a gear 4, the shaft 50 of a disk cam 43, a swinging arm 48 and a connection transmission device 10 to drive the shaft 11 of the planetary gear device 12. The driving output is further transmitted by the driving movement to detaching rollers 31, 32 through a gear 28 and a gear 87 drivably connected to the gear 28 to longitudinally rotate the detaching rollers 31, 32 on a combing cycle. A drawing cylinder 38 and a pair of drawing rollers 40 are driven through a transmission means 52, and winders 19, 20 are operated through chain wheels 21, 22 to draw out a lap in a combing process.
