PURPOSE: To provide combination refrigerators which are large in effective inner volume, easy to fabricate, reduced in uneven temp. distribution therein and intended to contrive the conservation of resources and energy and the easiness of the material recycle.

CONSTITUTION: A food storing unit is composed of a refrigerating chamber unit 2, a cold storage chamber unit 3, etc., and its volume is made variable by a combination of several kinds of units having different volumes. The cooling chamber 1a of a refrigerating cycle unit 1 is provided in its interior with a horizontal evaporator 6, a cooling air circulating fan 7 located rearward of the evaporator 6, a cooling air passage leading to the food storing unit and a temp. control damper 8. A machine chamber is provided in its interior with a condenser 10, a compressor and a circulating fan arranged in that order from the front side and this circulating fan and the cooling air circulating fan 7 in an evaporator chamber are both driven by the same motor. The cold air discharge openings of a refrigerating chamber 2a and of a cold storage chamber 3a are provided on the left and right sides of rear face panel, a cold air return opening is provided on the front side of a ceiling part near its center and a door switch is the type employing an optical sensor.
