PURPOSE: To improve safety, by a method wherein leaking gas resulting from damage is ignited in the vicinity of a burner when a diaphragm is damaged and closing of a stop valve is carried out automatically by detecting this combustion flame, in a captioned combustion controller having a diaphragm type pressure control valve.
CONSTITUTION: When a main valve 1 is turned on gas is supplied to a pilot burner 5 through a branch pipe 4 for ignition. Then, when a stop valve 2 is turned on gas is flowed into a pressure control valve, and if a valve body 8 is opened by electrification to the valve 6 at this time the gas is flowed into a main burner 18 through a valve seat 7 and an instrument nozzle 17 for a start of combustion. In this instance, if a diaphragm 9 which is a governer part is damaged a part of the gas is flowed into a back pressure chamber 16 through the damaged part and discharged out through a duct 20, during this discharge a flame of the pilot burner 5 is ignited. Then, an output of a flame detecting element becomes applicable and the stop valve 2 is closed automatically through a control circuit 19.
