To provide a combustor having inner pressure explosion-proof structure in which the rising time can be shortened.
The combustor comprises an electric apparatus room 3 comprising an inner pressure explosion-proof container for enclosing electric apparatus 13 and 14, means 7 for supplying protective gas to the electric apparatus room 3 by driving a motor, a combustion chamber 5 having a burner 15 for combusting fuel using the protective gas from the electric apparatus room 3 as combustion air, a channel 9 communicating with the combustion chamber 5 and exhausting gas therefrom, and means 17 for controlling the gas supply means 7, wherein the control means 17 increase the r.p.m. of the motor for the gas supply means 7 at the time of scavenging air in the electric apparatus room 3 as compared with the r.p.m. at the time of steady combustion of the burner 15. Since the flow rate of protective gas can be increased at the time of scavenging air as compared with that at the time of steady combustion, rising time of the combustor required before settling in steady combustion state after starting operation can be shortened.
