PURPOSE: To obtain a journal optimum to storage and a journal whose printed contents can easily be detected by successively developing printing data in the direction rectangular to the longitudinal direction of a continuous paper printing format, editing the developed data to a single slip printing format and printing out the slip by a data editing means.

CONSTITUTION: A page printer 27 for printing out various data on a single slip can be optionally connected to a POS terminal 1 for printing out various data on continuous paper by an R/J printer 2. The POS terminal 1 capable of printing out printing data developed to a continuous paper printing format based upon mode setting by the R/J printer 2 as a journal consisting of continuous paper can issue the printing data as a rectangular journal obtained by laterally connecting respective journals by the page printer 27 by successively developing the printing data of the continuous paper printing format in the direction rectangular to the longitudinal direction of the data by the data editing means and editing the data by a single slip printing format.
