To smoothly and surely attain a battery exchange mechanism which can dispense with a charge time of a battery in order to let an electric vehicle come in widespread use.
Each peculiar IC card 10 is added to each battery 3 commonly used by a plurality of electric vehicles 2, and information is written into the IC card 10 during traveling of a vehicle 2 and during work at a battery exchange station 1. Each station 1 includes charging equipment 5, and a station management device 6. The charging equipment 5 includes a charging device 8, and a controller section 9 having a charging status monitoring function and a reading/writing function of the IC card 10. The station management device 6 performs transmitting and receiving of the information about the battery to/from the controller section 9 and a system management device 11 connected at a communicating state at predetermined timing. The system management device 11 is connected with a battery management database 12 at an accessible state, and collectively controls the information related to the battery 3.
