To provide an Internet facsimile machine which searches a cause related to a DNS server with respect to an error that occurs when transmitting/receiving image data and reports the cause to a user.

When transmission start of electronic mail is instructed (S1: YES) and an SMTP server 4 is not set with a name (S2: NO), namely, when an IP address of the SMTP server 4 is set, electronic mail transmission is carried ou while designating the IP address (S10). When the SMTP server 4 is set with the name (S2: YES), it is determined whether or not a DNS server 3 is set, namely, whether or not setting processing of the DNS server 3 is completed (S3). When the DNS server 3 is not set (S3: NO), it is indicated on a display part 14 and reported to the user that "DNS server is not set" (S4).
