PURPOSE: To minimize the effect of noise due to fading by providing a diversity antenna receiving two fading waves or more and a diversity reception section synthesizing the received waves to a master set.

CONSTITUTION: A master set 23 uses a diversity antenna 24 to receive radio wave transmission signals as two radio waves or more and a reception section 25 synthesizes the received waves and applies FM demodulation to the synthesized wave and the result is demodulated into coding data by a modem 5. The master set 23 makes dialing based on dial information sent prior to picture data and connects a telephone line via an NCU 2. Then the coded data are stored in a picture memory 4 by an MPU 13. When the MPU 13 confirms the end of transfer of the coded data from a slave set, the MPU completes the storage of data to the memory 4. When interruption to the telephone line takes place, the master set 23 interrupts main routine processing to read data stored in the memory 4 to a FAX modem 3. Then the data are modulated into a facsimile signal and sent to the telephone line via the NCU 2 to terminate the interrupt routine and the main routine is restored.
