To provide a communication method capable of transmitting/receiving data including picture data and sound data even through a plurality of networks using respectively different protocols and to provide a communication system using the communication method.
An FOMA network 100 for connecting a plurality of visual phones 2 is connected to the Internet 102 for connecting a plurality of computers 4 through a gateway device 3, which performs the protocol conversion of picture data and sound data acquired by the visual phones 2. The computers 4 receive video data protocol-converted by the gateway device 3.
