Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and a computer program in which an intermediary communication device is not required for a function to interpret a page description language.
SOLUTION: Image information (PDL data) expressed in the page description language (PDL) generated by a PC2 (an information generating device) is output to an intermediary facsimile device 1 in accordance with the performance of a destination facsimile device 3 (a receiving device). If the facsimile device 3 can interpret the PDL data, the data is output to the intermediary facsimile device 1 in PDL format, while if the facsimile device 3 cannot interpret the PDL data, the PDL data is converted to image data with the resolution corresponding to the maximum resolution of the facsimile device 3, and then output to the intermediary facsimile device 1. Thus, the intermediary facsimile device 1 transfers the communication data sent from the PC2 without giving special treatment thereto.
