Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the amount of transmitted packets to which error correcting coding is applied by an application requiring a real-time property, in accordance with the condition of a communication transmission line, so as to inhibit increase in the packet transmission amount in the communication transmission line.SOLUTION: A transmitting device comprises: a packet generating unit which generates k data packets (where k is an integer equal to or greater than 2) to be transmitted; an encoding unit which generates n encoded packets (where n>k) by encoding the k data packets; a transmission control unit which instructs transmission or interruption of the transmission of the encoded packets; and a first transmitting unit which sequentially transmits the encoded packets in accordance with the transmission instructions from the transmission control unit. A receiving device comprises: a receiving unit which receives the encoded packets; a decoding unit which decodes the encoded packets; and a second transmitting unit which, if first conditions allowing the encoded packets to be decoded are satisfied, transmits a transmission interruption request packet to the transmitting device. In accordance with the transmission interruption request packet, the transmission control unit causes the first transmitting unit to interrupt the transmission of the encoded packets.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
