To facilitate the comprehension of information necessary for course guidance even by a small screen of a portable information terminal when performing course guidance by using the information terminal mounted on a movable body as to a communication-type navigation device.
In course guidance, a plurality of image planes such as own vehicle's peripheral map, an enlarged intersection view, and a guidance direction arrow, necessary for guidance and different in displayed information amount, are displayed on a display screen of the portable information terminal as they are changed over in keeping with the movement of the movable body. The setting of a display level as to guidance information is performed at the information terminal for determining which is to be displayed of the plurality of kinds of image planes. The information terminal receives an operation input for changing over displays on a plurality of kinds of guidance information to put together information transmitted from an information center to the information terminal according to the display level.
