Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect breaking incapability by opening a main contact when an accidental current is detected by a current detector, closing a commutation switch, supplying a commutation current, and detecting the accidental current flowing through a DC main circuit by the current detector.
CONSTITUTION: When an accidental current flowing through a DC main circuit 3 is detected by a current transformer 9 of a current detector, an opening command and a closing command are given to a main contact 1A and a commutation switch 7 respectively through a control circuit 10 and a drive 11, so a commutation current in an inverse direction to the accidental current is supplied to the contact 1A. At this time, the commutation current does not flow when the contact 1A is incapable of breaking, but the accidental current flows through the circuit 3, and this current is detected by the current transformer 9, so breaking incapability is known at a site and a central control room to open a DC circuit breaker 2. The breaking incapability of this breaker 2 is detected immediately to prevent an accident resulting in injury or death at the site.
