Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate a self-inflating mechanism for compensating the lowering of tire pressure in a tire.SOLUTION: A valve assembly of a tire 12 having a tire cavity and a pair of side walls 32 has a valve housing having an inner chamber. A diaphragm is attached to the inner chamber. The diaphragm has a first side surface fluid communicating with the tire cavity, and a second side surface fluid communicating with the inner chamber. A pump passage 42 of a pump is opened/closed when the tire rotates. The inner chamber has an inlet chamber fluid communicating with outside air, and a center port fluid communicating with first and second end portions of the pump passage. The diaphragm is positioned above a center port, and opens/closes the center port. A spring is positioned in the inner chamber of the valve housing, and energizes the diaphragm to an open position. The pump fluid communicates with the tire cavity.
