Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce variance in the quality of products and facilitate manufacture by using abrasion resistant and/or heat resistant porous sintered bodies having open cells and coupling these as surface hardening layers firmly.

CONSTITUTION: Alumina base ceramic plates 8 are beforehand set to the inside surfaces 1a of the cavity parts 7 of a centrifugal casting mold, after which while a mold 1 is being rotated, molten metal is poured into a sprue 6 through a molten metal lead-in pipe 10 by applying forces to the poured metal by centrifugal forces, so that the molten metal is filled in the parts 7. At this time, molten metal 11 on the inner side percorates into the open cells 12 of the plates 8 consisting of porous sintered bodies having open cells on the outer side surfaces, thereby forming one body. After cooling, the casting is removed, and is disconnected of the solidified parts in runners 9, whereby the composite casting for ball mill liners having hard layers on the outside surfaces is obtained.
