PURPOSE: To obtain a heat-shrinkable composite coating with an enhanced mechanical strength by disposing a reinforcing material made of tear-resistant fibers moving in a shrinking direction of a heatshrinkable sheet on or in a support member disposed corresponding to the sheet, and forming the member of a material to be melted at a temperature at the time of elongating or shrinking of the sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The composite coating is made of at least one heat shrinkable sheet in which a plurality of tear-resistant fibers move substantially in a shrinking direction. The fiber is made of glass, aromatic amide, ceramics, carbon or the like, and preferably disposed spirally or in a wavy state. For example, a tear-resistant member RT is spirally wound on a filament-like support member TE, disposed. When the sheet is elongated, the member is melted so that the fibers RT are elongated in a longitudinal direction. The member has a melting point of 60 to 160°C or preferably lower by at least 10°C than the orienting temperature of the sheet, and use of a melted adhesive is preferable. The tear- resistant member and the sheet are bonded by co-extrusion or laminating.
