To obtain a composite fiber material having high fracture energy value, enabling the increase of interlaminar peel strength and capable of relatively easily forming a fiber structure having thick wall thickness and complicate shape, and to provide its production process.
This composite fiber material is composed of a fiber structure embedded in a matrix composed of a metal and/or a resin. The fiber structure is a braiding woven fabric 1 woven and formed by using a fiber bundle 2 consisting of plural continuous filaments as a braiding yarn and the volume ratio (Vf) of the fiber structure 1 in the composite material is 10-60vol.%. The braiding yarns (fiber bundles) 2 constituting the braiding woven fabric 1 are preferably arranged in a state slantly crossing each other.
