To provide a method for producing a composite material, by which the composite material combined with a polymetalloxane-based material can be obtained, while maintaining the structure and functions of an organic compound such as a protein having a catalytic activity.
This method for producing the composite material of organic particles containing an organic compound with the polymetalloxane-based material is characterized by including a process for hydrolyzing and polycondensing a hydrolysable metal compound dissolved in a supercritical fluid or a semi-critical fluid in the presence of the organic particles to synthesize the polymetalloxane-based material. Since the polymetalloxane can be synthesized from the hydrolysable metal compound in the fluid as a medium, the organic particles can be combined with the polymetalloxane-based material, while reducing loads to the organic compound on its combination.
