Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material for vehicles which is excellent in a light weight characteristic and a insulating characteristic by a method wherein the composite material for vehicles is made of a molded material having thermosetting resin and a cellular vinylidene chloride resin foam particle as mandatory components.

CONSTITUTION: Thermosetting resin 1 such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, polyurethane resin, etc., is used. A cellular vinylidene chloride resin foam particle 2 is the foam particle obtained by foaming beads wherein amorphous vinylidene chloride copolymer is impregnated with a foaming agent. Then, a copolymer consisting of 10wt.% or over up to and including 85wt.% of vinylidene chloride, and 15wt.% or over up to and including 90wt.% of monomer capable of being polymerized is used as the amorphous vinylidene chloride copolymer. When the vinylidene chloride is under 10wt.%, its strength is decreased. When exceeds 85wt.%, the vinylidene chloride polymer becomes crystalline and its foaming characteristic is decreased.
