Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain parts each with a composite mixed multilayer film excellent in decorativeness, protectiveness and functionality by forming an org. polymerized film as an underlayer on the surface of each substrate and a composite mixed film consisting of a metal and an inorg. or org. material on the underlayer.
CONSTITUTION: A thin film 2 of TiN having a golden color tone is formed in 0.2μm thickness on the surface of a substrate 1 such as a stainless steel sheet by reactive ion plating with gaseous N2 and evaporated Ti particles. Evaporated particles of polycarbonate are ionized with plasma in an Ar atmosphere under low pressure and a polymerized film is vapor-deposited to form an undercoat 4 on the thin film 2. A composite mixed film 3 consisting of polycarbonate and an Au-Cr alloy is then formed in about 0.2μm thickness on the undercoat 4 and a top coat 5 of polycarbonate is vapor-deposited on the composite mixed film 3. Since the org. polymerized film 4 and the composite mixed film 3 are formed by plasma excitation, external parts of a timepiece, personal ornaments, etc., having the golden color tone of TiN and excellent in corrosion resistance, adhesion and wear resistance are easily obtd.
