Abstract:

PURPOSE: To realize the piezoelectric element utilizing the thickness longitudinal vibration second harmonic wave mode while eliminating an internal electrode to be made of an expensive material.
CONSTITUTION: A composite piezoelectric element 11 is provided with a laminate structure 15 in which a piezoelectric body 13 polarized in the thickness direction 12 and a paraelectric body 14 having no piezoelectricity are laminated in the thickness direction, and a couple of external electrodes 16, 17 opposite to each other are formed so as to have the laminate structure 15 between them in the thickness direction. The ratio of the thickness of the piezoelectric body/ paraelectric body is preferably 1.5-0.5 and the ratio of the sound velocity of the piezoelectric body/paraelectric body is preferably 0.9 or below.
