Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the bending strength of a thin-wall pipe used for, e.g., fishing rods and to reduce its weight, by using a composite prepreg in which the ratio between the moduli of longitudinal and lateral fibers and the ratio between the weights of these fibers fall in specified ranges, respectively.
CONSTITUTION: A longitudinal (0°) fiber and a lateral (90°) fiber are selected so that the ratio between the moduli of both of the fibers may fall in the range of 1:1W1:10. In addition, both of the fibers are used in amounts to provide a ratio between the weights of 0° fiber and 90° fiber may fall in the range of 1:0.02W1:0.6. The 0° fiber and the 90° fiber may be used in the form of a laminate or fabric of the both.
