Abstract:
PURPOSE: To promote the growth of the internal structure of a fibrillar polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) matrix by containing therein a biologically adaptable nonabsorptive thermoplastic component manufactured from a specific polymer. CONSTITUTION: A composite material used for the tissue of a mammal contains therein an unsintered fibrillar nonabsorptive biologically adaptable component and granular biologically absorptive component manufactured from a monopolymer selected from a group consisting of lactide, carbonate, oxalate and a lactone. Further, it contains, as necessary, a nonabsorptive biologically adaptable thermoplastic component which has a liquid form at a temperature of about 150 to 200deg.C and has a solid form in the atmospheric temperature, and which is manufactured from a polymer which can apply an additional completeness. With this arrangement, it is possible to promote the internal growth of the internal structure of a fibrillar PTFE matrix so as to apply additional support, direction and strength to the formation of a natural tissue.
